The renowned Italian fragrance brand Acqua di Parma has recently launched a new fragrance Gelsomino a Freddo, officially joining its Signatures of the Sun collection. This scent utilizes the ancient technique of Cold Enfleurage to extract its aroma, exuding bright and bold characteristics. Through a meticulous process lasting 48 hours, freshly picked jasmine petals are gently laid over refined shea butter to maximize the preservation of aromatic molecules. This process is also reflected in the name a Freddo (meaning Cold), highlighting the rich layers of jasmine scent and cleverly blending traditional techniques with contemporary craftsmanship.
This fragrance opens with a vibrant burst of Italian lemon, pink pepper, and wormwood, setting a bright tone right from the start. In the heart, the scent unfolds with extracts of jasmine absolute, smoky black tea, and orris butter, enhancing the floral layers. The base weaves in Guaiac wood, cypriol, and patchouli essence, creating a warm foundation that crafts an unexpected tension between luminous florals and dark smokiness. Perfumer Daphne Bugey notes that the creation of this fragrance faced two major challenges: first, balancing various contrasting elements while highlighting the essence of jasmine absolute; and second, finding the ideal harmony between floral and woody notes to showcase a truly unisex aroma.
