RETROVISION ’85, the robotic-inspired timepiece from watchmaking brand HAUTLENCE, pays a playful tribute to the creativity of the 1980s. Drawing inspiration from the transforming robot toys launched by a Japanese toy company that deeply influenced a generation’s childhood memories, this watch captures a nostalgic yet innovative spirit. Limited to just 8 pieces, the ED31-TI00 model merges retro-futuristic aesthetics with modern haute horology. Featuring the brand’s exclusive Vagabonde Tourbillon movement, it reveals a unique time display that transforms childhood fantasies into intricate craftsmanship.
RETROVISION ’85 features a case crafted from 3D-printed titanium, with select areas coated in a copper-toned PVD finish, delivering a striking visual effect that blends metallic sleekness with a nostalgic vibe. Designed as both a wearable timepiece and a decorative piece, its dimensions transform into an impressive 70.0 x 96.0 x 43.0mm when used as a table clock. The sapphire crystal glass and case back not only enhance durability but also elevate its overall refinement. The crown is engraved with the brand’s logo, showcasing meticulous attention to detail. As for the dial, it presents a three-layered structure: the base layer is sandblasted titanium, the middle layer is crafted from brass with blue and purple PVD treatments, and the minute dial features sapphire material. Complemented by bold 3D numerals and Globolight® luminous displays, this design merges practicality with artistic elegance.

Equipped with the D31 automatic self-winding mechanical movement, it features dual balance springs and a Wander-hour function. Three hour satellite discs orbit around the central minute disc, creating a captivating dance-like display of time that echoes the concept of fluidity. The movement consists of 217 components and 39 jewels, offering a power reserve of 72 hours and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Every detail reflects the brand’s relentless pursuit of innovative mechanics and exquisite craftsmanship.
The watch is paired with a black rubber strap and stainless steel pin buckle, allowing for convenient replacement through a quick fastening system. The base is engraved with HAUTLENCE, RETROVISION ’85, Suisse, among other markings, and features a Möbius strip pattern, symbolizing the infinite extension of time and space. This timepiece is more than just a tool for measuring time—it is a work of art, reviving the boundless imagination of the golden era of the 1980s.
