Basketcase x New Balance are releasing the Gator Run in two football inspired colorways, Hacky and Maiden, with a suggested retail price of $130, the brands said.

The collaboration builds on the Gator Run’s athletic heritage and channels football culture into the design, the brands said. Both colorways pair breathable mesh uppers with suede overlays to preserve the layered look common to vintage running shoes, and each pair ships with white liners, a classic rubber outsole, and an extra set of laces to increase styling options.

The styling stays deliberately simple, using color and material contrasts to create recognition rather than adding busy construction details. Basketcase x New Balance said that approach is meant to honor retro sportswear while making the shoes suitable for everyday wear.

The Hacky colorway is the most literal nod to football. It uses a bright yellow side panel paired with green high pile suede overlays to evoke the look of a grass pitch, the brands said. The yellow green contrast delivers a strong retro sports feel while the rubber sole tones the design down for daily wear.

The Maiden colorway takes a subtler route. Burgundy suede overlays sit on a pale blue base to give a layered, vintage jersey like atmosphere, the brands said. Although both shoes are part of the same release, each is meant to offer a distinct personality rather than a simple recolor.

Details include a retro star motif on the heel and the words BASKET and CASE printed on the left and right shoes, marking the collaboration. That left right branding choice raises the shoe’s collectibility, the brands said.

Overall the line favors clean silhouettes and restrained lines, focusing attention on color, materials, and the football inspired concept rather than elaborate structure. Basketcase x New Balance said the release is intended to continue the conversation around retro sports culture while offering two distinct styling options.
Basketcase x New Balance Gator Run Hacky and Maiden will roll out at selected retailers and online channels starting this summer, the brands said. The suggested retail price is $130 per pair.
