The TRC Racing Team from Hong Kong recently took part in the FDJ2 event, a spectacle that caught the attention of many motorsport enthusiasts. Team manager Deng Zhilun, with over twenty years of racing experience, is well-versed in the ins and outs of high-profile competitions, having participated in events like the TCR International Series. The team is a unique mix of personalities, featuring wine merchant Lu Wei, AGM Motor founder Yang Jian, and fintech group CEO Xu Ruian. This combination of seasoned veterans adds a distinctive flair to the race track. Additionally, two-time RC drifting champion Hu Jiajun has made the leap from virtual tracks to the real thing, bringing even more excitement to the competition.
In the extreme drifting competition, Yang Jian drove the Toyota ALTEZZA (SXE10) with remarkable consistency. He achieved impressive scores of 25 for angle, 22 for style, and 26 for line in the solo run, totaling 73 points to advance to the top 32. In the chase run, his technique once again propelled him into the top 16.
Hu Jia-jun showcased his remote racing experience behind the wheel of a Toyota GR86 (ZN8). In the top 36 qualifying round, he achieved a total score of 73 points, with scores of 21 for angle, 23 for style, and 29 for line, successfully advancing to the top 32.
Additionally, Xu Ruian’s Toyota CHASER (JZX100) performed well in the solo race, while teammate Lu Wei’s Toyota GR86 (ZN8) did not meet expectations. However, it provided valuable racing experience, preparing them for future challenges.
During the competition, an unexpected situation occurred when a driver from the TRC team faced a parts failure during practice. The atmosphere on-site became quite tense. However, the maintenance team quickly showcased their exceptional problem-solving skills, completing repairs in just five minutes, allowing the driver to successfully return to the track and continue the battle.
In this upcoming FDJ2 event in Japan, the TRC team will compete alongside athletes from various fields, infusing new energy into the Asian drift racing scene. What’s particularly exciting is that 14-year-old driver Guo Jiaqi will represent the team, aiming for outstanding results and showcasing the spirit of Hong Kong.
