The Japanese development team Chilla’s Art is well-known for its horror games such as Shinkansen No. 0, Hell Hot Springs, and the upcoming live-action movie adaptation of The Night Shift Incident, receiving strong support from Japanese streamers and Vtubers alike and garnering excellent reviews. Their latest release, UMIGARI (Umi Gari), combines horror elements with the concept of spearfishing, sparking high anticipation among players.
UMIGARI is a first-person perspective open-world spear fishing horror adventure game, where players will fish in the fog-drenched waters off the coast of Japan. According to official information, the general flow of the game involves catching fish, selling them to merchants, upgrading boats and equipment with earned money, and then refueling to set out again. However, seasoned players familiar with their team's games will understand that behind this seemingly straightforward process lies a deeper layer of horror waiting to be uncovered.
From the trailer, it's clear that players will need to wield a harpoon onboard to catch fish, testing their timing and accuracy. If you want to snag rarer species, you'll have to plunge deeper into the ocean. In the depths, you'll encounter bizarre creatures like fish dressed in high school uniforms and gigantic fish, and you might even cross paths with a mysterious high school girl. This horror game weaves together thrills and chills, pushing your nerves to the limit.
Currently, UMIGARI (Umigari) has not announced an official release date. It will be available on the PC Steam platform and will offer a demo version; however, please note that the demo version will not be on the same store page as the official game.
