Recently, rapper A$AP Rocky faced trial concerning a shooting incident involving a friend, ultimately being found not guilty. Upon leaving the courtroom, Rocky expressed his gratitude to the jury, saying, “Thank you for saving my life, thank you for making the right decision.” This ruling allowed him to successfully shake off two felony charges related to assault with a semi-automatic weapon, avoiding the fate of potentially facing decades in prison.
Upon hearing the verdict, A$AP Rocky immediately ran to the gallery to embrace his girlfriend Rihanna, along with family and friends, celebrating this hard-won result. If he hadn’t been acquitted, he could have faced a maximum sentence of 24 years. Before the trial, prosecutors had proposed a deal, asking Rocky to plead guilty in exchange for six months of imprisonment and other conditions, but he consistently maintained his innocence and chose to let the jury decide his fate.
As the verdict approaches, Rocky is gearing up for several major projects, including headlining the Rolling Loud music festival in Los Angeles and attending the Met Gala as a co-chair. Additionally, he’ll be starring in a new film directed by Spike Lee alongside Denzel Washington.
This three-week trial stems from a conflict between Rocky and Terell Ephron, known by his stage name A$AP Relli. The two were once high school friends and fellow members of A$AP Mob, but over time, their relationship soured. On November 6, 2021, when they arranged to meet in an attempt to resolve their dispute, it escalated into a heated confrontation. While testifying in court, Relli claimed that Rocky pulled a gun and fired at him, but Rocky’s defense team emphasized that he was holding a prop gun loaded with blanks and that A$AP Relli was aware it was not a real gun.
A$AP Rocky ultimately chose not to testify in court, and during the closing arguments, his girlfriend Rihanna was in the audience supporting him alongside their two children.
