The live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic animation Snow White has officially premiered recently, and the first-week global box office figures have been unveiled.
This live-action work directed by Marc Webb grossed $43 million at the North American box office. Although it successfully topped the box office charts, this achievement still feels somewhat modest. It has become the second-highest opening weekend box office of 2025 so far (just behind 《Captain America 4》). However, compared to the $45 million opening weekend performance of 《Dumbo》 in 2019, the debut of 《Snow White》 fell short of expectations.
Notably, past iconic live-action adaptations such as 2019’s The Lion King, 2017’s Beauty and the Beast, and 2023’s The Little Mermaid all effortlessly surpassed $100 million in their opening weekend at the North American box office. In contrast, the performance of Snow White is undoubtedly disappointing. Internationally, the results are similarly underwhelming, generating only $44.3 million, with a global total box office reaching just $87.3 million.
Currently, Snow White holds a 44% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 74%. The IMDb audience score doesn’t fare well either, landing at just 2.1/10, while critics rate it 50/100. Cinemascore has also given its verdict on B+.
