The highly anticipated Dior’s latest exhibitionChristian Dior: Designer of Dreamshas officially opened in Seoul.
This grand event, which seamlessly blended tradition, innovation, and multicultural elements, attracted numerous Korean artists, including HyunJoo Kim, Soo Sunny Park, and Zadie Xa, whose works were showcased in the exhibition. Additionally, Dior Global Brand Ambassador JISOO, Han So Hee, Kim Yuna, Mingyu (MINGYU), TOMORROW X TOGETHER, Solomon Park, and actor Nam Joo Hyuk were also invited to the gala dinner.
Following the enthusiastic reception of The Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, this phenomenal event has toured London, Shanghai, Chengdu, New York, Doha, Tokyo, and Riyadh. The latest stop is set to take place at the iconic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, with the exhibition running from April 19 to July 13, 2025.
Curated by fashion historian and veteran curator Florence Müller, this exhibition showcases over seventy-five years of creative evolution. It also features immersive exhibition spaces designed by Shohei Shigematsu, a partner at the globally renowned architecture firm OMA.
The exhibition takes a retrospective journey through Dior’s history since its inception, highlighting its groundbreaking New Look that shook the fashion world and its current innovative interpretations. The showcase offers an unprecedented perspective on the brand’s treasured themes, such as founder Dior’s passion for flowers and gardens, the exquisite craftsmanship of its ateliers, and its fascination with grand balls and lavish festivities. Iconic haute couture creations and rare archival materials seamlessly intertwine within the exhibition, engaging in a dynamic dialogue with remarkable works by contemporary Korean artists HyunJoo Kim, Soo Sunny Park, and Zadie Xa.
Additionally, the exhibition introduces a dedicated section for the first time, showcasing the South Korean art scene’s reinterpretation of the brand’s iconic Lady Dior handbag. This includes nine creations specifically designed for the Dior Lady Art project and seventeen pieces conceived under the Lady Dior As Seen By concept. These captivating artistic connections further deepen the profound relationship between Dior and South Korea.
Through various exhibition zones, the founder’s passion for the art of perfumery is vividly showcased, featuring elaborate fragrance bottles, portraits, and other objects. The stunning gowns worn by brand ambassadors like Rihanna and Natalie Portman further highlight Dior’s enchanting allure. This exhibition invites visitors into Dior’s dreamy world, offering a truly opulent feast for the senses.
