McLaren recently made a significant announcement, revealing that it has completed extreme polar testing for its next-generation supercar, the W1. The tests, conducted within the Arctic Circle, thoroughly evaluated the limits of the all-new V8 hybrid powertrain.
This test primarily focuses on the chassis tuning of W1, the traction control system, torque distribution, and the electronic stability system, aiming to fine-tune these aspects in environments with extremely low grip.
The W1 is equipped with the MHP-V8 engine, delivering an astounding 1,257 horsepower and 988 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the high-voltage battery pack has undergone rigorous low-temperature testing to ensure stable performance even in extreme environments. Additionally, the engineering team has optimized both the transmission and battery systems to enhance reliability under freezing conditions.
