When cosmic meteorites become the material for watch dials, the definition of timepieces takes another leap forward. ZENITH has launched the brand new Chronomaster Sport METEORITE watch, model 03.3120.3600/76.M3100, injecting elements and inspiration from outer space into its iconic sports chronograph series. The dial, crafted from genuine iron meteorite, showcases textures that originate from natural geometric structures, slowly cooled in space millions of years ago—this unique Widmanstätten Pattern is irreplicable, making each watch truly one-of-a-kind.
Visually, the meteorite’s gray tones create a rich layering with ZENITH’s iconic tri-color sub-dials (silver, light gray, and carbon gray). The three sub-dials display the 60 seconds (at 3 o’clock), 60 minutes (at 6 o’clock), and the small seconds (at 9 o’clock). The guilloche pattern enhances light and shadow details, with hour markers and hands treated with rhodium and coated in SuperLuminova SLN C1 for luminous visibility, even in dim conditions. The date window is positioned at 4:30, creating a naturally balanced layout.
In terms of core configuration, the watch is equipped with the brand’s own El Primero 3600 movement. This high-frequency automatic chronograph operates at 5 Hz (36,000 times per hour), achieving timing precision to 1/10 of a second. The central chronograph hand completes a full rotation every 10 seconds, making it extremely efficient for reading time, aligning perfectly with today’s standards for sports watches. The movement features a striking blue column wheel and a horizontal clutch structure, both of which are clearly visible through the transparent sapphire case back, showcasing a skeletonized star-shaped rotor that oozes mechanical charm. With a power reserve of up to 60 hours and a hacking feature for precise time setting, this timepiece is designed for serious watch enthusiasts.
The watch case is crafted from stainless steel, with a diameter of 41mm and a thickness of 13.6mm, featuring a lug spacing of 47mm. Its sleek design echoes the elements of the A386 chronograph from 1969. The bezel is made from black ceramic, adorned with a white gradient 10-second scale, making it resistant to scratches while providing easy reading for timing. This timepiece has a water resistance depth of 100 meters, making it perfect for everyday wear or outdoor activities without any hassle.
In terms of accessories, the Chronomaster Sport METEORITE comes standard with a stainless steel integrated bracelet, featuring a mix of satin and polished finishes for a sleek look. It includes a fold-over double clasp for comfortable and secure wear. Additionally, it comes with a black rubber strap and a folding buckle, making it easy to switch between casual and sporty occasions.
It’s worth mentioning that the Chronomaster Sport won the Geneva Watch Grand Prix Best Timing Watch Award in 2021. This meteorite version continues the design language of the original and for the first time incorporates this unique material into the collection. The METEORITE edition was initially exclusive to Japan but has now expanded to the global market, with a reference price of HKD 133,800.
