EA's military shooting game Battlefield 6 is set to officially launch, with developer Ripple Effect announcing that ray tracing technology will not be supported at release, and there are no plans to introduce it in the short term. In an interview, Technical Director Christian Buhl mentioned that the team decided to exclude the ray tracing feature early in the game's development, aiming to focus on optimizing game performance to ensure all players, especially those using default settings, can enjoy a smooth gaming experience.
This decision highlights a stark contrast with Battlefield 2042, which, due to excessive hardware demands and optimization issues, has left many players unable to enjoy smooth gameplay. Buhl stated that the development team aims to avoid making the same mistakes, ensuring that more players can experience this game.
Although Battlefield 6 does not support ray tracing, it fully embraces the upscaling technologies offered by major manufacturers. Gamers can enhance their performance using techniques like NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 2. NVIDIA has also confirmed that the game will fully support a comprehensive suite of technologies including DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, DLSS Frame Generation, DLSS Super Resolution, DLAA, and NVIDIA Reflex.
In terms of system requirements, Battlefield 6 is relatively accessible. If you want to run it smoothly at 2K resolution with high-quality settings, it's recommended to use a graphics card at least on par with the RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6700 XT, or Arc B580. For the processor, either the Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X will meet the needs. The memory requirement is dual-channel 16GB DDR4-3200, and you'll need at least 96GB of storage space.
According to testing data, the game performed exceptionally well during its public testing in August, with players racking up an impressive total playtime of 92 million hours and engaging in over 420 million matches. The developers have stated that this testing phase has received very positive feedback, indicating that their strategy of focusing on performance optimization has proven effective.
