Recently, teamLab grandly unveiled its new permanent museum Universe of Existence, Universe of Perception: teamLab Biovortex Kyoto in Minami-ku. As part of the southeastern district development plan for Kyoto Station, this art space spans over 10,000 square meters, marking the birth of one of the largest exhibitions in Japan.
This art museum will showcase over 50 immersive art installations, offering visitors a diverse and captivating experience. Among them, Massless Amorphous Sculpture will be one of the highlights, as this piece has never been exhibited in Japan. It utilizes the concept of Environmental Phenomena, creating an artwork that evolves gradually under the influence of its environment.
Visitors can explore a range of brand new installations inside the venue, including Megaliths and Ephemeral Existence: Life and Comeback, along with teamLab's popular educational programs, such as Athletics Forest and Future Park. Notably, Athletics Forest is a challenging multidimensional creative space where the passage of time shifts with your physical presence, while Future Park emphasizes an interactive space for collaborative creation.
In addition, the venue features the Sketch Factory, where attendees can transform the images they've created in Graffiti Nature and Sketch Ocean into a variety of custom products, such as badges, magnets, puzzles, towels, t-shirts, tote bags, or paper crafts as souvenirs.
Through this initiative, teamLab aims to support Kyoto's urban development vision in the southeast area of Kyoto Station, focusing on culture, art, and the younger generation, making teamLab Biovortex Kyoto a creative hub that nurtures and spreads new values. Tickets are now available for purchase on the official website.
