Matthieu Blazy has just launched his first Spring/Summer collection since taking on the role of creative director at Chanel. This collection unfolds in a three-act format, creating a virtual dialogue with the brand's founder, Gabrielle Chanel. The narrative focuses on the ultimate legacy, showcasing how women confidently express their freedom within a wardrobe that balances functionality and allure, thereby gaining greater autonomy.
The collection kicks off by exploring The Paradox of Power, cleverly borrowing elements from menswear, such as fringed blazers and finely tailored trousers, to forge a brand new and powerful female image. This theme also extends to Chanel's everyday wear: the classic pieces showcase a resilience honed by time, with the 2.55 handbag effortlessly standing out in Wrinkled Yet Cherished style, revealing its traditional burgundy lining; the crumpled camellia design is artfully integrated into the exquisite knit sets. Overall, the entire daywear collection features clean and fluid lines that evoke the geometric beauty of Art Deco and reflect the architectural elements of the brand itself.
The series reaches its climax with a boundaryless universal dress. The influence of masculinity gradually emerges under the softened contours of blouson. Experimental elements made from various materials are evident everywhere, with sheer knit fabrics juxtaposed against contrasting silk-printed linings, creating a visually stunning balance. When it comes to accessories, the focus is on layered designs, with jewelry resembling treasured collectibles, adorned with Baroque-style pearls and shimmering glass planets. The contrasting color at the toe of the shoes sets the tone for the entire collection, guiding the wearer towards an elegant future shaped by self-definition.
