Charles Jeffrey unveiled the FW26 collection in Paris, captivating the fashion world with a groundbreaking immersive presentation that created a truly unique viewing experience. This collection deliberately aims to embody Meticulously Curated Chaos, merging exaggeratedly tailored suits with patchwork designs and tattered checkered fabrics, while also introducing upgraded versions of the brand's popular Banana shoes and Claw boots.
This showcase is truly unique, as Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY departs from traditional runway formats and instead opts for an immersive scene that radiates the chaotic energy of London punk at Dover Street Market Paris. Jeffrey reveals that the inspiration for this comes from his roots as a club kid in Dalston, with him personally spending five days creating the set to evoke a near-pagan ritualistic punk environment. The entire presentation revolves around the theme of Queer Nationalism, with the Scottish thistle serving as a central totem. The live band Baby’s Berserk further enriches the experience, embodying the brand's raw and experimental spirit, blending laughter, rebellion, and care atop Perfect.
This season's collection is named THISTLE, reinterpreting the romance of Scotland and iconic 80s cuts through the lens of Availableism. It showcases a meticulously arranged sense of chaos. The overall look continues the designer's unique punk style and vocabulary of gender fluidity: a mix of torn plaids and hourglass silhouettes, with Frankenstein-like cuts allowing for the deconstruction and reassembly of exaggerated suits, creating entirely new proportions and shapes. The visual elements are dominated by strong contrasts and a sense of weight, featuring ruffled long skirts, deconstructed beanies, and sleeves that serve as ribbons.
This release also showcased the brand's latest updates in footwear, particularly the new versions of the Banana shoes and Claw boots. It introduced playful hooked animal bags and a variety of knitted items, ranging from mushroom spots patterns to striking apple green Fair Isle, offering something for everyone.
Jeffrey emphasized that this season's collection is not just a declaration of the brand's future, but also a reaffirmation of its visual direction, highlighting the creation of a safe space for outcasts. In the ever-changing fashion world, he firmly stated, LOVERBOYForever born for the eccentric, crafted by the eccentric.. The Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY FW26Thistle collection will be available later this year at Dover Street Market and selected retail stores worldwide.
