HTC has officially brought its first AI smart glasses, the VIVE Eagle, to Hong Kong. Today’s launch event (December 10) showcased the latest AI features and local collaboration details. Designed to be lightweight and stylish, these glasses offer a powerful AI assistant experience, allowing users to control them with natural voice commands, take photos, listen to music, and conduct translations. They are the perfect daily wearable device that doubles as an AI assistant.

HTC is teaming up with 1O1O, csl, SmarTone, and Puyi Optical to offer a seamless experience that combines 5G services and professional eyewear fitting. This one-stop service takes care of everything from trying on glasses to eye exams and after-sales support. Plus, there are special promotional prices available, along with a HK$500 eyewear voucher from Puyi, making it particularly practical for users with prescriptions.

The VIVE Eagle will officially hit the market on December 11, with a suggested retail price of HK$3,988. It will be available in four colors: red, brown, gray, and black, featuring both sunglasses and anti-blue light transparent lens options, making them perfect for extended wear during outdoor activities and work.

AI Assistants and Voice Experience
VIVE Eagle adopts an open AI architecture that deeply integrates with Google Gemini, transforming into a mobile AI assistant right before your eyes. It can use Hey VIVE to add your appointments to Google Calendar, note down your vehicle’s parking location, or even help you choose the top-rated coffee shop in Central on the spot. The device supports natural voice continuous conversations and smart memory features, meaning you won’t have to repeat commands every time. It will remember key points you’ve mentioned before and pull them up for you later. Currently, voice control supports Mandarin and English, with plans to add Cantonese in the first half of 2026—an essential upgrade for users in Hong Kong.

Photography, Translation, and Everyday Scenarios
With a built-in 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, combined with the VIVE AI voice assistant, you can take photos using just your voice—no need to whip out your phone while shopping, traveling, or biking. It records everything from a first-person perspective, capturing the sights in front of you effortlessly. The translation feature supports over 40 languages, providing instant translation from street signs to menus simply by taking a photo. This is especially useful for Hong Kong travelers who love to explore multiple countries in one go.

Design, Wear, and Privacy Security
The VIVE Eagle weighs in at a mere 49 grams and is designed with a frame that fits the facial structure of Asian users, making it a lot more comfortable for long periods of wear. In addition to ZEISS sunglasses lenses, it also offers anti-blue light transparent lenses that support UV400, anti-glare, and blue light reduction, making it perfect for office workers who spend extended hours on their computers as a daily eyewear choice. On the privacy front, HTC emphasizes that all user data is processed in a de-identified manner, ensuring there is no behavior tracking and it won’t be used for AI training. The data is stored locally with AES-256 encryption, and with a capture alert LED light and international security certifications, it places a stronger emphasis on privacy protection compared to other smart glasses.

Audio Experience and Battery Life
The audio features an open-ear headphone design with large drivers complemented by virtual bass technology, striking a balance between a stereo experience and a level of privacy. Whether you’re pumping music on the streets or taking calls, everything sounds clear while still allowing you to be aware of your surroundings. Equipped with a directional microphone and environmental noise filtering, you’ll be able to communicate clearly even amidst the hustle of Mong Kok streets or at the station. With a 235mAh battery, enjoy up to 36 hours of standby time and around 4.5 hours of continuous music playback. Plus, a quick 10-minute magnetic charge brings it back to life by half—perfect for your daily outings.
