In Mainland China, every vehicle—whether for personal use or commercial purposes—must be registered with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) before hitting the mass production and sales stage. Once all procedures are completed, the ministry will add the vehicle to its monthly announcement registry, signifying that it’s cleared for mass production. So, it’s hardly shocking that the recently released 402nd batch of new vehicle products features the smart #6, marking the arrival of this highly anticipated model from smart as it gears up for mass production soon.

Earlier this year, whispers began to circulate about smart’s plans to unveil a four-door sedan. Initially, many anticipated debuting this ride at the Beijing Auto Show next April, coinciding with the reveal of the #2 model, but in an unexpected twist, it made an earlier entry into the spotlight. Introducing the #6 EHD (Electric Hybrid Drive), that’s the second in line following the #5 EHD. It boasts the same 1.5-liter turbo engine, cranking out 163 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque, which powers the front wheels through a 3-speed automatic transmission. With a 20kWh battery and motor combined (total system output hits 435 horsepower and 635 Nm of torque), this beauty can glide for up to 120 kilometers on electric power alone. And when fully fueled and charged, it can cover an astonishing total distance of 1,500 kilometers.

In addition, this car utilizes the same PMA2+ platform as the Zeekr 007, with dimensions of 4.9 meters in length, 1.92 meters in width, and 1.5 meters in height. It also features an optional retractable rear wing, flaunting a design that distinguishes it from earlier smart products. What do you think about the smart #6 EHD?
