Blondey McCoy, the London born skater who rose through Supreme and Palace Skateboards in his teens, is expanding THAMES into a multi category label and now models for Kate Moss Agency after collaborating with luxury houses, illustrating how his rising profile from skate culture to fashion drove the brand’s growth.

Blondey launched THAMES at a very young age; the exact timing is hazy, but early signs remain in his grandmother’s house in the form of THAMES stickers. In 2015, THAMES expanded through a Palace collaboration, growing into a mid sized label that releases two collections and collaborations each year, with professional representation. Palace’s involvement helped THAMES gain visibility and broaden its design language. In early 2019 the brand paused due to independent operating pressures, and at year end it announced a restart under the name THAMES MMXX.

Today THAMES MMXX has grown to encompass skate gear, apparel, eyewear, footwear, and even gold jewelry. The team is about 20 people, and distribution channels continue to expand. Late last year Blondey was invited by Joyce to host a pop up at Joyce’s flagship in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. He personally traveled to Hong Kong for the event, and we conducted an in depth interview to discuss his personal brand as well as his views on life, career, and family.
