Nike AirMax 1000.2 arrives as a streamlined, 3D printed continuation of the Air Max line, arriving in a Black/Black colorway that emphasizes structural detail, Nike said.
The new Nike AirMax 1000.2 is a collaboration between Nike and Zellerfeld, and the company described the silhouette as a digital reinterpretation of the Air Max 1. Nike said the upper is produced in a single molded piece with a wave like texture, creating layered visual depth while improving fit and wrap around the foot.
Nike said the signature laceless approach remains, allowing the shoe to conform more directly to the foot and reduce pressure from excess structure. The overall aim, the company added, is to keep the shoe light and flexible while preserving supportive cushioning.
Nike AirMax 1000.2 design and sole refinements
The most significant upgrades on the Nike AirMax 1000.2 are in the outsole, where Nike said it reworked the tooth pattern and contour lines through more precise geometric proportions. Those adjustments are intended to spread force more evenly with each step, improving stability and lowering material waste during production, the company said.
The design keeps a high level of cushioning and rebound, Nike said, pairing a streamlined structure with consistent soft support to provide a smooth transition with each stride.
The junction between the upper and midsole echoes the Air Max 1 mudguard, remade here with 3D texture to preserve the shoe's familiar cues while introducing new visual detail. The Black/Black finish focuses attention on printed layer lines and structural shifts that are visible from multiple angles.
Nike AirMax 1000.2 and the Air Works program
Nike said the collaboration is part of a broader Air Works program that opens a design platform to global creators, letting designers explore 3D printed solutions for Air Max forms. Participants in Air Works will have the opportunity to work at Nike headquarters with internal teams and Zellerfeld to develop custom Air Max designs, Nike said.
Nike described Air Works as a way to treat design as a continuously evolving system rather than a single product, enabling iterative optimization from structure to appearance. The company said this approach aims to expand creative possibilities for 3D printed footwear.
How to buy the Nike AirMax 1000.2 Black/Black
Nike said the AirMax 1000.2 Black/Black will be distributed globally via a raffle. Registration runs May 4 through May 7, the company said, using the EQL raffle system for entry management.
North American buyers will also see the shoe on the Nike SNKRS app on May 7, Nike said, offering an additional channel for fans in that region to secure a pair. Nike did not disclose pricing in its statement.
For collectors and designers, Nike said the AirMax 1000.2 represents both a technical and procedural step forward for the brand, blending 3D printed manufacturing with a platform that invites outside creativity into the Air Max family.
