Google Pixel 11 Debuts With Four Models and AI Focus

Google Pixel 11 launches in four models, with U.S. starting prices of $899 for the base model, $1,099 for the Pro, $1,299 for the Pro XL, and $1,899 for the Pro Fold, and some markets opened preorders ahead of an Aug. 20 release, Google said.

The Pixel 11 family starts at 256GB of storage across the line, and Google said the base Pixel 11 uses a new 48 megapixel main sensor while keeping an ultrawide and a 5 times telephoto lens, with up to 30 times Super Res Zoom.

Google said the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL move to a 48 megapixel telephoto sensor that supports 5 times portrait zoom and up to 120 times Pro Zoom. Instant Night Sight and 8K video recording are reserved for the Pro and Pro XL models, Google said.

Performance and AI on Pixel 11

All models switch to Google’s Tensor G6 system on chip. Google provided benchmark-style claims that web browsing is up 25 percent faster, app launch times are about 15 percent faster, and TPU compute is 50 percent higher, and said Gemini Nano accelerates on-device AI tasks by as much as 3.5 times while reducing power draw.

Google emphasized that the Pixel 11 update is about integrating imaging, voice input, and Gemini assistant features into the phone experience, rather than chasing raw benchmark numbers alone.

When recording video, the Pixel 11 will use AI to analyze clips, select frames worth saving, and extract them as still photos. Google said this approach helps capture moments that cannot be easily reshot, such as children, pets, or live events, but reviewers will need retail units to judge selection accuracy and final photo quality.

Gemini powers a new “voice refinement” input that converts casual speech into clean, edited text. According to Google, the system filters filler words, honors on the fly corrections, and rearranges phrasing to surface the speaker’s intended meaning.

Google also demonstrated agent tasks such as booking reservations and hailing rides, but warned these features will be limited by country, language, age, subscription status, and preview availability; broader rollout will depend on regional activation.

New HiLight indicator on Pixel 11 Pro series

The Pixel 11 Pro, Pro XL, and Pro Fold add a HiLight feature, a ring of LEDs around the camera flash that signals when Gemini is listening or responding, and can also notify select contacts of incoming calls. Google said the basic Pixel 11 does not include HiLight, and the ring is not a universal app notification light.

Price increase and longevity arguments for Pixel 11

Google said U.S. prices for the Pixel 11 line rise by at least $100 compared with the prior generation, but noted that 256GB is now the baseline capacity so like for like comparisons vary by configuration.

Google announced seven years of system and security updates across the lineup, which the company said is intended to appeal to buyers planning long term ownership. Reviewers will still need extended real world testing to judge battery life, charging heat, and camera performance in summer night and indoor scenes.

Google said the Pro Fold weighs about 239 grams, or roughly 8.4 ounces, and folds to a thickness of 10.1 millimeters. The company confirmed the Pro Fold’s battery capacity is smaller than the prior model and that its zoom limit is capped at 30 times.
