Japan is renowned for its premium denim fabrics, and now, UK fashion brand Studio Nicholson teams up with the sub-line POTR of traditional Japanese brand YOSHIDA & Co. for the first time. Shifting the focus to Japan’s little-known nylon craftsmanship, they’ve launched three products meticulously crafted from high-grade nylon. The entire collection adopts Studio Nicholson’s signature deep navy blue tone, showcasing a design aesthetic that’s understated yet sophisticated.
This collaborative collection features a spacious Bonsac shoulder bag as its centerpiece, perfectly embodying the brand’s refined design philosophy. The lineup also includes a compact messenger bag and a key holder pouch, all subtly embellished with monochromatic logos. Hidden stitching further accentuates the premium texture of the highly durable nylon. Adding a touch of luxury, the bag’s zipper pulls are crafted from top-tier tanned leather with an exquisitely superior finish.
Studio Nicholson’s founder and creative director, Nick Wakeman, highlights the unique versatility of nylon material. He notes, ‘It’s a distinctive fabric with a color palette that sits between black, grey, and deep navy, making it incredibly versatile and perfect for everyday wear.’ The collection is crafted from 100% recycled high-density taffeta nylon, showcasing a matte, washed texture. Treated with a salt finish and fluorine-free waterproofing, the functionality of the products is elevated to the next level. The fabric features a three-layer bonding technique, while the lining is made of 70D high-strength ripstop nylon, striking a balance between aesthetics and durability.
The Studio Nicholson x POTR collaboration series will soon be available on the official Studio Nicholson website, as well as in the UK, Japan, and South Korea. It will also be simultaneously launched at the Studio Nicholson and Porter Yoshida & Co. stores in Hong Kong. Additionally, related products will be offered at Dover Street Market Ginza in Tokyo.
