In Mainland China, whether it’s a private or commercial vehicle, both must be reported to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (abbreviated as MIIT) before they can be mass-produced and sold. Once the necessary procedures are completed, the ministry will list the vehicle in its monthly announcement registry, indicating that it has received permission for mass production. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that in the recently released 402nd batch of new vehicle products, the smart #6 has made its appearance on the list, signaling that this eagerly anticipated model from smart is set to be mass-produced soon.

Earlier this year, there were already rumors circulating that smart would be launching a four-door sedan. Initially, it was thought that the debut would occur at the Beijing Auto Show in April next year once #2 was revealed, but surprisingly, it made an early appearance. This new model, named #6 EHD (Electric Hybrid Drive), is the second in its category following #5 EHD. It features the same 1.5-liter turbo engine, delivering 163 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque, which is transmitted to the front wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission. Coupled with a 20kWh battery and motor (total system output is 435 horsepower and 635 Nm of torque), it can achieve an all-electric range of up to 120 kilometers, and with a full tank and a fully charged battery, it can reach an impressive total distance of 1,500 kilometers.

Additionally, this car shares the same PMA2+ platform as the Zeekr 007, measuring 4.9 meters in length, 1.92 meters in width, and 1.5 meters in height. It also offers an optional retractable rear wing, showcasing a design that sets it apart from previous smart products. What are your thoughts on the smart #6 EHD?
