Japan is renowned for its premium denim, and now the British fashion brand Studio Nicholson has teamed up for the first time with the subsidiary line POTR of Japanese heritage brand YOSHIDA & Co., focusing on Japan’s lesser-known high-quality nylon. Together, they’ve unveiled three meticulously crafted pieces made from luxurious nylon. The collection carries Studio Nicholson’s signature deep navy blue tone, exuding a subtle yet sophisticated design aesthetic.
This collaborative collection centers around a spacious Bonsac shoulder bag, fully exemplifying the brand’s refined design philosophy. The lineup also features a compact messenger bag and a key pouch, with all items subtly accented by monochrome logos. Concealed stitching further highlights the textured quality of the high-durability nylon. To elevate the luxurious feel, the bag zippers are adorned with premium tanned leather, boasting an exquisite finish.
Nick Wakeman, the founder and creative director of Studio Nicholson, describes nylon as a unique and versatile material. He notes, “This is a distinctive fabric that comes in shades between black, gray, and deep navy, making it incredibly easy to style for everyday wear.” The collection is crafted from 100% recycled high-density taffeta nylon, featuring a matte, washed finish treated with salt for a refined texture. It also incorporates a fluorine-free water-repellent coating, enhancing practicality. The fabric utilizes a three-layer bonding technique, with the inner lining made of 70D high-strength ripstop nylon, balancing aesthetics with durability.
The Studio Nicholson x POTR collaboration collection will soon be available on the Studio Nicholson official website, as well as simultaneously launching in the UK, Japan, and South Korea. Studio Nicholson and Porter Yoshida & Co. stores in Hong Kong will also carry the collection, with related products available at Tokyo’s Dover Street Market Ginza.
