Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is gearing up to launch the Yangwang U9 supercar, specifically designed for the racetrack. This beast is expected to unleash over 3,000 horsepower, which is triple the output of the current version. The existing U9 model boasts a peak output of 960 kW (1,287 horsepower), but according to the latest data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the track version will feature a four-wheel independent motor system, with each wheel capable of delivering around 555 kW (744 horsepower), culminating in a staggering total of 2,220 kW (3,019 horsepower).
In terms of design, the U9 track version boasts a square, low-slung body posture, fitted with 325/35/20 tires, and enhanced with a more aggressive aerodynamics package. The vehicle has a curb weight of 2,630 kg (5,798 lbs). While its exterior resembles the standard version, all the enhancements are focused on track performance. BYD has yet to confirm the production plans or launch timeline for this high-performance U9, but if successful, it could set a new benchmark for electric performance vehicles.
