Italian emerging fashion brand ACT N°1, which was recently shortlisted for this year’s LVMH Prize, has been gaining recognition globally. Last year, it was also named one of Fashion Asia’s “10 Asian Designers to Watch.” Founded in 2016, the brand uses fashion as a means to explore and reflect on societal issues. For instance, one of its most iconic pieces, a men’s suit adorned with sheer ruffled fabric, serves as a protest against the issue of child marriage. ACT N°1’s founder and designer, Luca Lin, has a diverse background: he is of Chinese descent but was born and raised in Italy. “Italy’s haute couture traditions have provided a foundation of refined tailoring and craftsmanship, while Chinese culture brings in imagery, poetry, and artistry,” Luca said. “The brand navigates the intersection of these two worlds.”
