Porsche 963 livery inspired by Apple Computer's classic rainbow debuted May 3, 2026, at Laguna Seca as Porsche Penske Motorsport unveiled two newly painted Porsche 963 LMDh prototypes for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the team said.
The two cars use a scheme that references the Porsche 935 K3 that raced in the 1980s, and the design was presented as a celebration of Porsche Motorsport's 75th anniversary and Apple's 50th anniversary, Porsche Penske Motorsport said in a statement.
Porsche 963 livery recalls 1980s Le Mans era
The paintwork reproduces the iconic Apple rainbow motif across the bodywork, a visual choice meant to evoke endurance-racing liveries of the 1980s, particularly those seen at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Designers said the look is both a nostalgic nod and a modern reinterpretation of sportscar aesthetics.
Team representatives said the decision to pair the Apple-inspired colors with the Porsche 963 platform was deliberate, linking two long-running brands and their anniversaries while showing how historic motifs can be adapted for contemporary prototype racing.
Why Laguna Seca was chosen for the Porsche 963 livery reveal
Porsche Penske Motorsport staged the reveal at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, which the team highlighted as an important North American venue and a fitting backdrop for the liveries because of its proximity in spirit to Apple Park and its role in regional motorsport history.
The presentation at Laguna Seca also coincided with the IMSA round, giving fans on site a first look at the fully liveried machines during official track activity. The team said the timing underscored both brands' ties to innovation and performance in the United States.

Design legacy and what comes next for the Porsche 963 livery
Officials said the Apple-inspired paint will appear on the Porsche 963 cars for selected events and promotional appearances, allowing spectators to see the color scheme both in competition and on display. Porsche Penske Motorsport called the collaboration a celebration of motorsport history and brand milestones.
Fans at Laguna Seca and viewers of IMSA coverage saw the Porsche 963 livery under track lights, a spectacle the team said ties past and future racing aesthetics together as the series moves deeper into the 2026 season.
