Sony 1000X marks its 10th anniversary with a hands-on “Sony 1000X Mastery” pop-up at Langham Place in Mong Kok, open through June 17, 2026.

The event, hosted by Sony Hong Kong, celebrates a decade since the launch of the 1000X family in 2016 and showcases the new 1000X THE COLLEXION flagship headphones alongside a display of earlier models.
Sony 1000X noise test: MTR and aircraft simulations

At the pop-up, Sony built two dedicated listening zones, the “1000X Detail” area for in-flight high-fidelity audio and the “1000X Focus” zone for daily commute noise canceling tests.
The commute area is staged to look like a Hong Kong MTR subway car (the city’s rapid transit network), complete with announcement audio, so visitors can test how the headphones block typical transit noise.
A reporter at the exhibit found that the commuting setup made the effect of active noise canceling immediately obvious; users reported noticeably less background chatter and carriage rumble while wearing the headphones.
How the new flagship performs

The centerpiece of the show is the ten-year flagship called 1000X THE COLLEXION, which Sony Hong Kong said builds on the series core technologies with higher-rigidity drivers and DSEE Ultimate spatial audio processing.
Sony confirmed the new model increases the number of noise-canceling microphones to 12 noise-canceling microphones, and uses a next-generation processing chip to improve audio detail and spatial resolution.
To prioritize long-wear comfort, Sony reduced clamp force and loosened earcup sealing slightly, a design choice that, in side-by-side testing at the exhibit, made the physical isolation less effective against deep, low-frequency rumble than the WH-1000XM6.
WF-1000XM6 and product retrospective

The exhibit also includes the WF-1000XM6 fully wireless noise-canceling earbuds, offering visitors a choice between over-ear and in-ear designs for different commuting habits.
Longtime fans can visit a “1000X series 10-year evolution” gallery that displays milestone models dating back to the original 2016 release, allowing visitors to trace changes in acoustic design and materials over the decade.
Photo area and celebrity partner

The “1000X Myself” fashion photo corner is fronted by singer Lam Ka-him (林家謙), who Sony selected as a brand ambassador for the campaign, and features a large interactive backdrop for visitors to try looks with the headphones and take photos.
Fans who want a deeper look can see the full lineup and take photos with the anniversary exhibit pieces.
