Nike Kobe 6 Protro arrives as the Coals colorway, a blacked out holiday design that Nike Basketball said will release Dec. 25, 2026.
Nike Kobe 6 Protro design and inspiration
The Nike Kobe 6 Protro Coals reinterprets the holiday tradition of leaving coal for misbehaving children, replacing the usual red and green with darker tones, Nike Basketball said in a statement.
The shoe is covered in an irregular scale pattern across the upper, meant to read like scorched coal. Designers used polyurethane scales rendered in deep black to give the surface layered texture and depth.
Colors, materials and on court presence
Small highlights of Venom Green and Purple Venom punctuate the silhouette, with the Swoosh fading from Venom Green into Purple Venom to trace the shoe line.
A translucent rubber outsole reveals faint green and purple details beneath, keeping the overall effect low key while offering a strong visual contrast on court.
The design nods to the silhouette’s history, including the 2010 Christmas Day Grinch colorway that Kobe Bryant wore, a moment widely documented in game footage and sports coverage.
Nike Kobe 6 Protro aims to balance a heavy, local holiday mood with the silhouette’s legacy, Nike said.
The shoes will be released Dec. 25, 2026, Nike Basketball said, and the company said it will announce pricing and retail details closer to the launch.
