TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Team Ikuzawa debuts as a 39mm Glassbox chronograph that reinterprets the team’s classic red-and-white racing livery, TAG Heuer said.
The new release follows a 2023 42mm collaboration, and this version uses the 39mm Carrera Glassbox Chronograph case as its base, TAG Heuer said.
Team Ikuzawa traces its roots to racer Tetsu Ikuzawa, and the team built recognition in the 1970s and 1980s through entries in Japanese Grand Prix support series, Formula 3, Formula 2, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and Porsche factory-associated events, Team Ikuzawa said.
Design and racing livery: TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph influence
The 39mm stainless steel case is finely brushed and polished and topped by the signature Glassbox domed sapphire crystal, TAG Heuer said.
TAG Heuer removed a traditional external bezel to create a wider visual field on the dial, a move the company says preserves the Carrera line’s emphasis on clear legibility.
The dial uses a white Clou de Paris guilloche texture to echo the Roadmaster stopwatch that inspired the collaboration, TAG Heuer said. Unlike some Glassbox Carreras, this model uses printed hour markers instead of applied indices, aiming for a look closer to traditional racing stopwatches.
Red accents provide the visual cues associated with Team Ikuzawa: the TAG Heuer shield, lacquered hour and minute hands, the central chronograph seconds hand, and the date numerals are all rendered in red to reproduce the team’s red-and-white aesthetic.
Heritage details and branding
At 6 o’clock, the dial carries the Team Ikuzawa logo, and TAG Heuer intentionally omitted a running small seconds subdial to leave more room for the team insignia, the brand said.
That layout echoes Heuer racing timers from the 1960s and 1970s, when timepieces doubled as instruments and emblems of racing culture, according to Team Ikuzawa commentary provided to the brand.
Movement and performance
The watch is powered by the in-house TAG Heuer TH20-10 automatic chronograph movement, which the brand says features a 80-hour power reserve, a column wheel, a vertical clutch, and a bidirectional winding system.
Chronograph registers are placed at 3 o’clock for a 30-minute counter and at 9 o’clock for a 12-hour counter, and the tachymeter scale has been removed to maintain a cleaner dial aesthetic, TAG Heuer said.
Straps, caseback, and water resistance
The crown includes a red lacquer ring and the pushers are styled in a retro chronograph profile, TAG Heuer said. The case is rated to 100 meters of water resistance.
The watch ships on a new seven-row stainless steel bracelet and includes two additional straps: a perforated white leather strap with red stitching and a white textile strap with a red racing stripe, details TAG Heuer says nod to drivers’ gloves and the team’s historic paint schemes.
The caseback is co-branded with Team Ikuzawa and Bamford Watch Department marks and each piece carries an individual edition number, TAG Heuer said.
Packaging, edition size, and price
Packaging is inspired by a racing pit toolbox and includes a travel pouch and a Team Ikuzawa key charm, details TAG Heuer outlined in its product notes.
TAG Heuer said the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Team Ikuzawa is limited to 150 pieces worldwide. The brand set the retail price at approximately $10,532 (originally 82,600 HKD).
TAG Heuer said availability will be announced through the brand’s global retail network and its website, and that further details will follow at launch.
