The model officially named Aion UT Super is launched through a collaboration between JD.com, GAC Group, and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. It’s expected to be priced between 100,000 to 120,000 RMB (approximately HKD 108,000 to 129,600). Additionally, this special edition model number 001 will start bidding on JD.com’s auction platform with an opening price of just 1 RMB (around HKD 1.08). After over 23,000 bids, it was sold for 78,193,400 RMB (approximately HKD 84,449,000), capturing the attention of more than 260,000 online users.
The Aion UT Super, powered by cutting-edge chocolate battery swap technology, boasts an impressive range of 500 kilometers and the ability to quickly swap batteries in just 99 seconds. This new vehicle is equipped with a dedicated battery management system that enhances energy efficiency by 10%. Additionally, it features a battery aging monitoring system and a digital twin model for real-time battery status monitoring, paired with flexible battery rental options that completely alleviate user concerns over range and battery degradation. Notably, GAC Group is the first automaker to fully implement the chocolate battery swap ecosystem, having applied this technology across multiple models as early as April this year.
This model features a wheelbase of 2,750 mm and generous rear legroom of 905 mm, with a width of 1,385 mm, providing passengers with a comfortable and stress-free experience—three passengers can sit together without feeling cramped. Additionally, the new car includes a rare feature in its class: the front seats can recline flat, significantly enhancing passenger comfort. Compared to the current Aion UT, which is priced between ¥69,800 to ¥101,800 RMB (approximately HK$75,400 to HK$109,900), the Aion UT Super has seen substantial upgrades in terms of range, battery-swapping technology, and smart features.
The Aion UT Super makes its global debut with the GAC Huawei Cloud Car Machine technology, leveraging Huawei’s cloud computing capabilities to smoothly run large 3A games and videos, eliminating limitations set by local hardware. Inside, it boasts terabytes of cloud storage, allowing for the installation of over 20,000 applications. Users can quickly upload mobile applications via a simple scanning process, enhancing the vehicle’s operational efficiency and optimizing the smart cockpit experience. In terms of safety features, this new car exclusively introduces the Backup Sentinel function, which automatically brakes to prevent accidental acceleration if it detects obstacles behind, further enhancing reverse safety.
In response to the excitement surrounding the auction for Vehicle No. 001, JD Auto has announced that every user participating in the bidding will receive a gift package worth 399 yuan (approximately HK$431) when purchasing a car in the future. Additionally, the user whose bid is closest to the final transaction price will be awarded a brand new car. This collaboration combines GAC’s expertise in automotive manufacturing, JD’s strengths in supply chain and digital ecosystems, and CATL’s advantages in power batteries and battery swapping ecosystems, with the three parties working together to promote a comprehensive upgrade to intelligent experiences from production to service.
