    Exclusive 1997 Porsche 911 GT2 R from 993 Generation at RM Sotheby’s Auction

RM Sotheby’s has once again introduced a highly exclusive car for auction: a 1997 Porsche 911 GT2 R from the iconic 993 generation, of which only 10 were produced worldwide. This particular GT2 R was originally painted in Glacier White and was first delivered to Dutch driver René Snel, before changing hands to GT champion and founder of Frikadelli Racing, Klaus Abbelen.

This car was active on the racetrack before 1999 and after an accident, its chassis number was transferred to a new shell. In the early 2000s, Abbeln drove this car back to prominent tracks, including Nürburgring, Hockenheim, and Monza. In 2014, the vehicle was acquired by Stuttgart Legends Collection and underwent partial restoration by Peter Holzner in 2017, with repair costs reaching $23,200.

What’s particularly eye-catching is that this GT2 R will be auctioned off in its unrefurbished state. Despite missing its chassis number and original engine, it remains an incredibly attractive option for historic racing car collectors. With professional restoration, it could once again meet historical specifications, allowing it to participate in events such as Masters Endurance Legends and Peter Auto’s Endurance Racing Legends. Additionally, the car comes with a Wagenpass, an inspection report from Andy Prill, spare BBS wheels, and various components, offering fans a more comprehensive collectible value.
