Leica has unveiled the all-new M series model, the Leica M EV1, officially launching the era of electronic viewfinders for the M system. This is the brand’s first M camera equipped with a built-in electronic viewfinder (EVF). Maintaining the iconic design of the M system, the new model blends modern digital photography features, further lowering the entry barrier and allowing more photography enthusiasts to easily step into the world of M.

The Leica M EV1 features a 5.76 million pixel high-resolution EVF that delivers clear and natural visuals, supporting instant exposure previews and magnified focus assist, making it perfect for shallow depth of field, portrait, or macro photography. The camera includes a diopter adjustment range from -4 to +2 and, with the eye sensor, can automatically switch between the EVF and the rear touchscreen. The classic body lever can be set to toggle between 1.3x and 1.8x digital zoom, enhancing intuitive operation.

The M EV1 is built on the full-frame BSI CMOS sensor of the Leica M11, offering three shooting resolutions: 60 million, 36 million, and 18 million pixels, with options for DNG and JPEG formats. Equipped with the Maestro III image processor, it can quickly handle image data even during high-pixel shooting, and can store them in the built-in 64GB memory or on an SD card.

In terms of connectivity, the M EV1 supports both Bluetooth and WiFi, allowing for seamless integration with the Leica FOTOS app for image syncing and sharing. It also features Bluetooth Low Energy technology, enabling images to be transmitted to your phone in power-saving mode while running in the background. Notably, the M EV1 is equipped with CAI content certification technology, providing a digital signature for each photo to ensure authentic verification of your work.

In terms of design, the Leica M EV1 retains the minimalist shape and classic layout of the M series, meticulously handcrafted in Germany using high-quality materials. Wrapped in diamond-patterned leather, it exudes understated elegance. Whether used for documentary work or paired with large aperture lenses like the Noctilux and Summilux for creative photography, the M EV1 showcases remarkable flexibility and precision in both focusing and composition.

The Leica M EV1 is priced at HKD 67,500. Additionally, there is a matching leather grip available to enhance stability while holding, with a suggested retail price of HKD 3,400.
