Building on the previously launched Another Kingdom Western Backgammon Set, Taras Yoom deepens the Yoomoota artistic universe once again by collaborating with GASP Diamonds to unveil a collection centered on silver and diamonds. This release continues the exploration of using games as a narrative medium, skillfully incorporating jewelry-grade materials and intricate inlay techniques into his sculptural creations.
The key work of the series Another Kingdom: Diamond Age further expands the context of the game, transforming battlefield into a momentary pause that encourages knowledge and a sense of security to transcend competitive instincts. This chess game serves as a profound meditation on wealth, power, and rebirth, distilling the philosophy of Yoom into a piece of art rich in material vocabulary, while also viewing diamonds as symbols of wisdom rather than mere markers of status.
The final piece of the collection, Old Money: The Diamond Era, is a unique sculpture that transforms the artist’s early plastic creations into striking silver works with a tangible feel. This piece integrates genuine banknotes from over 15 countries that are no longer in circulation. Through Yoom's acrylic-baking technology, the textures and colors of these banknotes are preserved, allowing the symbolic meaning of money to translate into themes of heritage and intergenerational impact, rather than merely serving as a form of currency.
The limited edition chess series is currently on display at PAD London 2025, running until October 19. This collection features two versions, with each set embedded with a total weight of 55 carats of gemstones: 21 sets contain lab-grown diamonds, while 11 sets are made with natural diamonds. Each set includes an NFC chip that serves as a digital certificate for verification, authentication, and provenance tracking. The lab-grown diamond version is priced at $60,000, while the price for the natural diamond version can be found on the Yoomoota website.
