To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Studio Ghibli, Heritage Auctions will hold “The Art of Anime” auction, featuring a curated collection of rare animated artworks from this renowned studio, including classic works like “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Spirited Away,” “Princess Mononoke,” “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” and “Castle in the Sky.”

This auction will feature over sixty Ghibli-related collectibles, including animation sketches, cel artworks, background paintings, and limited edition art pieces. Iconic characters such as “Catbus,” “Lady Eboshi,” and “White Dragon” will be among the highlights.

In addition to focusing on the works of Studio Ghibli, the auction will also showcase treasured collections from several classic pieces in the history of Japanese animation, such as hand-drawn backgrounds from “Akira” (1988), animation scripts from “Pokémon” and “Sailor Moon”, as well as original animation frames, art books, posters, and prints from “Dragon Ball Z”, “Cowboy Bebop”, “Neon Genesis Evangelion”, and “Blue Fear”.

The auction for 《The Art of Anime》 will be held soon, offering both online and in-person bidding (by appointment only), at the Heritage Auctions headquarters in Dallas.
