Nintendo has launched a brand new 3D action game Donkey Kong Bonanza (Donkey Kong: Banana Mania), and right now, there’s a promotional playtest event happening at K11 Art Mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, running from now until August 10. The event features three interactive zones, including a game trial area, a photo spot, and a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 section, allowing players to be among the first to experience the game while immersing themselves in the unique charm of Donkey Kong’s underground adventure world.
The story of Donkey Kong Bonanza is set on Brick Island, where Dongqi is swept underground by a hurricane and embarks on a quest for golden bananas. Along the way, he meets a girl named Pauline, who possesses a special singing voice. Together, they delve deeper into the layers of this mystical underground world in pursuit of their wishes. As their adventure progresses, the scenes transform, showcasing a variety of settings, including wild landscapes, primal forests, and resort destinations, all depicted in rich detail that evokes a strong sense of exploration.
Players can manipulate Dongqiang to freely destroy terrain, including walls and floors, with opportunities to discover hidden paths and secret areas. Pauline’s singing can also empower Dongqiang Banana Power Unleashed, transforming it into different forms like a zebra or an ostrich, unlocking special abilities such as high-speed running on water and gliding through the air, adding more diversity to the gameplay.
The promotional event features three distinct zones, each with its own unique charm. The gaming trial area boasts 10 consoles available for testing, accommodating multiple players simultaneously, making it perfect for families or friends to dive into the fun together. The photo zone recreates an underground scene, complete with quirky props like 《咚奇剛》, 《波琳》, and the sparkling 《Banana Diamond》, with evening lighting effects enhancing the overall vibe. The Nintendo Switch 2 zone showcases the latest console bundles along with various accessories, giving visitors a comprehensive insight into the product’s features.
Anyone who comes to play the game on-site will receive a themed paper hat, Donkey Kong Bonanza, right away. Additionally, if you complete a designated online questionnaire at the event and show the confirmation screen to a staff member, you will also receive a themed postcard. The event operates on a ticketing system, requiring participants to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the event, which is at 11:45 AM, to collect a valid ticket for that day at the venue.
