adidas Originals World Cup is back in the spotlight as adidas Originals unveils a new away kit collection for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the trefoil logo returns to the tournament stage after 36 years, placed prominently on the chest of each shirt, the brand said in a press release.

adidas Originals World Cup designs reflect national cultures
The collection covers 13 national teams, and adidas said each jersey goes beyond a simple color swap to rebuild a visual language that reflects local culture. Argentina uses a blue swirl motif to present artistic line work with black and white contrast, while Germany stacks multiple blue V shapes to create a sense of rhythm that nods to different eras of the national kit.
Spain shifts to an ivory ground with antique copper motifs to suggest literary and historical references, and Mexico reinterprets traditional Grecas geometric patterns to echo architectural heritage, adidas said. Italy translates suiting fabric textures into pitch graphics, and Japan uses 12 stripes to symbolize the connection between players and fans.

Belgium’s design leans on surrealist cues in tribute to René Magritte, bringing unexpected visual elements into a match setting. The company described the series as clothing that aims to act as a cultural carrier, rather than only sporting equipment.
Design details and visual strategy

Across the collection, geometric composition and team lineup imagery inform the overall visual system, reinforcing group identity and ritual. adidas said the trefoil placement is the series most recognizable detail, intended to reconnect the Originals language with contemporary football culture.
Performance tech on the adidas Originals World Cup player shirts
The player version includes adidas CLIMACOOL+ technology and upgraded 3D engineered fabrics to improve breathability, moisture wicking, and heat dispersion while reducing weight, the brand said. Shoulders feature three-stripe panels combined with herringbone style seam construction for durability and comfort.

Adidas said the technical updates are aimed at keeping shirts stable under high temperature and intense match conditions, while the construction details maintain the archival look that ties the on-field kit to the brand heritage.
Lifestyle drop links street and pitch
Alongside match shirts, adidas Originals launched a retro lifestyle series centered on SAMBA, GAZELLE, and SPEZIAL silhouettes, extending football culture into everyday wear. The lifestyle line uses the same geometric language, referencing player lineups to strengthen ideas of team and ritual.

The brand said this approach is about reconnecting football and street style: the trefoil on the global stage signals that adidas Originals is repositioning its classic vocabulary into the center of contemporary culture, across both pitch and street.
Adidas confirmed the collection will roll out in phases ahead of the 2026 tournament, and the company said fans can expect the full set of national kits and the lifestyle pieces to appear across adidas retail channels and select partners later this year.
