Moser minute repeater watch debuts with cylindrical tourbillon

The Moser minute repeater watch is H. Moser & Cie.’s newest flagship, pairing a visible minute repeater striking mechanism with a cylindrical hairspring flying tourbillon in a fully skeletonized movement, the company said.

    H. Moser & Cie. said the new Endeavour Minute Repeater Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton continues the brand’s long interest in making complex functions visible to the wearer. The watch uses a 40 millimeter titanium case and measures 14.4 millimeters thick, allowing sight lines through multiple layers of the skeletonized movement.

The minute repeater striking mechanism has been relocated to the dial side, with the hammers and gongs exposed rather than hidden on the movement rear, the company said. The curved gongs lie on a single plane and are finely tuned so the sound remains clear and layered within the compact case volume.

At the two o’clock position there is a small electric blue smoked subdial, printed with a transparent lacquer brand signature and Roman numeral hour markers. H. Moser & Cie. said the subdial is intended as a visual anchor that preserves basic time display without overcomplicating the skeleton composition.

Moser minute repeater watch design and acoustic engineering

Acoustics are central to the project. The case interior has been reconfigured so the repeater sliding rack runs on Teflon guides and is integrated into the mainplate to improve space efficiency, the brand said. A heavily openworked intermediate structure creates a resonance chamber effect, helping the sound travel more directly.

Titanium was chosen for its low damping characteristics, which the company said helps limit energy loss to vibration and yields a more focused and sustained strike. H. Moser & Cie. said engineers spent extensive time tuning the gongs to deliver clarity in a compact case.

Movement: HMC 909 and the cylindrical hairspring

The watch is powered by the HMC 909 manual winding movement, which measures 33 millimeters in diameter and 9.6 millimeters in thickness, H. Moser & Cie. said. The movement comprises 415 components and 35 jewels, runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour, and offers a 90 hour power reserve.

Bridges and the mainplate carry Moser double stripes and were hand finished, the company said, preserving the brand’s spare aesthetic while exposing the mechanical architecture. The skeleton layout is designed so the wearer can observe the minute repeater strike and tourbillon in operation.

A one minute flying tourbillon sits at six o’clock together with a cylindrical hairspring that winds vertically along the balance staff. H. Moser & Cie. said the cylindrical hairspring improves isochronism and reduces friction, but requires far more manual shaping than a traditional flat hairspring.

Precision Engineering AG developed and manufactured the cylindrical hairspring for this movement, the companies said, and each spring is hand shaped, a process that takes several times longer than producing a conventional spring.

Wearability, finishing and limited edition status

The watch uses a sapphire crystal front and a display caseback, paired with a grey alligator strap and a titanium pin buckle. H. Moser & Cie. said the materials and construction keep the overall weight and wearing comfort balanced despite the complex mechanics.

Production is limited to 20 pieces, which the brand said positions the model as a collector piece within the Endeavour family. H. Moser & Cie. noted the watch will be shown at selected exhibitions and at authorized retailers later this year.

For further technical specifications and exhibition dates, H. Moser & Cie. and Precision Engineering AG provided detailed technical sheets and press information to authorized dealers and media outlets, the companies said.
