G-Dragon Buccellati jewelry drew notice at the opening of the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee in Busan, South Korea, the brand said, when the K-pop star G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong) attended as a promotional ambassador for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Buccellati said the star wore two signature pieces from the house: the Rombi Eternelle ring in platinum and yellow gold set with diamonds, and the Étoilée Eternelle ring in gold and platinum. The rings were chosen to complement a formal look while highlighting Buccellati’s handcrafting techniques, the company said in a statement.
G-Dragon Buccellati jewelry: Rombi Eternelle’s geometric inspiration
Buccellati described the Rombi Eternelle ring as a study in three-dimensional geometry, inspired by Gianmaria Buccellati’s admiration for Persian carpet patterns. The piece pairs yellow gold and platinum with diamond pav e9 and a hand-carved Modellato edge, creating contrasting planes between metals and a sense of depth through a pierced structure, the brand said.
According to Buccellati, the ring’s openwork lets light pass and refract across the surfaces, producing delicate shadow and highlight effects that underscore the house’s artistic approach. The Rombi Eternelle uses alternating gold tones and carved borders to emphasize visual layering, the company said.
Étoilée Eternelle and Buccellati craft
The Étoilée Eternelle ring takes cues from classical Roman architecture and its curved decorative motifs, presenting a cleaner silhouette while preserving fine metalwork detail. Buccellati said the design relies on the house’s signature twisted-gold technique, in which artisans hand-weave fine gold threads to achieve a textile-like softness in metal.
Buccellati emphasized that both pieces reflect the maison’s long-standing methods, where artisans complete carving, polishing, and setting by hand. The brand said many of its collections draw on historical art motifs and early design concepts, then rely on in-house engraving and openwork techniques to give each piece layered texture and a tactile finish.
At the Busan opening, G-Dragon’s choice to pair Buccellati pieces with formal attire highlighted how the house’s metalwork can read as both contemporary and rooted in craft tradition, Buccellati said. For Buccellati, the appearance underscored the label’s emphasis on artisanal detail and sculptural approach to jewelry design.
