Royal Oak blue ceramic appears on Audemars Piguet’s new Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon, the first Royal Oak to use the Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 ceramic across the case, bezel, crown and integrated bracelet.
Audemars Piguet says the Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 hue traces to the original Royal Oak dial introduced in 1972. The brand says Stern Frères mixed a protective lacquer with a black pigment called No.50 to create one of the Royal Oak’s most recognizable blues, a tone the maker began translating into ceramic in 2025.
Royal Oak blue ceramic design
The new model uses the Royal Oak’s classic 41mm case, with a thickness of 10.6 millimeters and water resistance rated to 50 meters. Audemars Piguet says the high-hardness ceramic is hand-finished, alternating brushed and polished surfaces to preserve the collection’s octagonal bezel and clean lines.
The watch pairs a matching Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 ceramic integrated bracelet with a titanium AP folding clasp, and the front and display back use anti-reflective sapphire crystals. The transparent caseback is secured in a titanium frame, highlighting the contrast between ceramic and metal components.
Dial, tourbillon and movement
The dial adopts a single-color scheme, a Grande Tapisserie pattern matched to the Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 ceramic. Eighteen-karat white gold applied hour markers and Royal Oak hands are filled with luminous material, and a flying tourbillon sits at the 6 o’clock position under a no-upper-bridge design that creates a floating visual effect.
Audemars Piguet equips the watch with its in-house Calibre 2950 automatic movement, the flying tourbillon caliber that first appeared in the Code 11.59 family before joining Royal Oak. The movement runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivers a 65-hour power reserve, the brand says.
The display back provides a view of Geneva stripes, perlage, polished chamfers and a 22-karat pink gold rotor, details Audemars Piguet cites as examples of the house’s haute horlogerie finishing.
Availability and price
Audemars Piguet confirms the Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 Ceramic, reference 26730CD, has been added to the brand’s permanent collection and will be available through its boutiques. The company says official retail pricing is available on request.
Two Geneva-based dealers who spoke on the condition of anonymity estimate secondary-market pricing at about 210,000 Swiss francs, or approximately $229,000 (about 210,000 Swiss francs). Collectors should expect a full-ceramic Royal Oak blue ceramic execution to carry a premium because the color covers the entire case and bracelet.
The new all-ceramic treatment is more than a color swap, the author notes: it is a modern ceramic reinterpretation of one of Royal Oak’s defining historical elements, bringing a signature blue into a fully ceramic execution that highlights both the flying tourbillon and the material’s surface texture.
