Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest ended 1-0 on Sunday, when substitute Noni Madueke scored in the 80th minute to give Arsenal all three points, the Premier League said. The victory moved Arsenal back to second in the table with 18 points from seven matches, three behind Manchester City.

In the Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest match, Arsenal dominated early possession but found Nottingham Forest’s low defensive block difficult to break down, holding more than 70 percent possession in the opening stages, according to the Premier League. Martin Odegaard was tightly marked, and forwards Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka received limited service.

Arsenal attacking during first half against Nottingham Forest

Arsenal’s attacks lacked fluency in the first half and the team failed to record a shot on target before the goal, while Nottingham Forest sat deep and looked to hit on the break. The match remained 0-0 at the interval, with Forest content to defend and frustrate the visitors.

Manager Mikel Arteta made a decisive change in the second half, bringing on Noni Madueke to add pace on the right. The substitution paid off in the 80th minute when Declan Rice found space at the edge of the box and played a low cross to the right, where Madueke drove a finish that deflected off a Forest defender and looped past the goalkeeper.

The goal proved to be Arsenal’s only shot on target, according to the Premier League match report, but it was enough to break the deadlock and hand Arsenal a narrow win. Manager Arteta praised the impact of his substitute after the match, saying the change was intended to stretch Forest’s back line.

Nottingham Forest responded by committing bodies forward. Manager Nuno Espírito Santo brought on forward Liam Delap in search of an equalizer, and Forest created a scramble in Arsenal’s penalty area during stoppage time, but Delap was unable to convert the opportunity.

Late pressure fails to overturn result

With goalkeeper David Raya organizing the defense, Arsenal held firm to record a clean sheet and leave the City Ground with a 1-0 win. The Premier League updated the table after the match, showing Arsenal on 18 points from seven matches, three points behind Manchester City.

The match report noted that, despite heavy possession for Arsenal, Nottingham Forest executed a disciplined defensive plan and forced the visitors to work for the single decisive moment. For Arsenal, the result keeps pressure on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League heading into the international break.
