Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179 Pegasus is Jaeger LeCoultre’s new Reverso that places a hand carved Pegasus, double sided skeleton architecture and a Gyrotourbillon inside the classic flip case, limited to five pieces worldwide, the brand said.
The new Reverso Hybris Artistica continues the line’s Art Deco proportions while adding heavy artisanal techniques, the company said.
Design and engraving on Reverso Hybris Artistica
The most striking detail is the Pegasus motif carved into the 18 karat rose gold case. Jaeger LeCoultre said craftsmen spent about 180 hours carving the Pegasus and surrounding cloud texture by hand to create a pronounced bas relief.
The engraving runs from the dial side across the case flank, so the Reverso case reads as a complete sculptural element while preserving the series signature Art Deco lines, the brand added.

Dial lacquer and layered finishing
The front dial uses deep blue lacquer paired with gold hour markers and an exposed tourbillon aperture. Jaeger LeCoultre said the blue finish is not a single flat coat but a multilayer hand lacquered treatment to achieve depth.
On an 18 karat rose gold base plate, craftsmen cut more than 50 recesses then filled them with successive layers of lighter and darker blue lacquer so the cloud pattern displays subtle light and shadow.

Skeleton movement and rear finishing
Flip the case and the watch reveals a different character. The skeleton architecture exposes most of Calibre 179’s components, with blue lacquered bridges and hand beveled surfaces that emphasize its mechanical nature.
Jaeger LeCoultre said beveling the Gyrotourbillon frame alone takes about 14 hours, and finishing the independent rear bridge requires another 8 hours, underscoring the hand finishing involved.

Gyrotourbillon mechanics and innovations
The centerpiece is the fourth generation Gyrotourbillon. The assembly is made of 123 parts and uses a double axis rotation: the inner cage completes a revolution every 16 seconds while the outer cage turns once per minute, the brand said.
To improve aerodynamic efficiency and timing, Jaeger LeCoultre said it uses a titanium cage, a hemispherical balance spring and a dual anchor Gyrolab balance to reduce air resistance and increase rate stability.

Dimensions, wearability and clasp
Despite the multi axis tourbillon and double sided dual time functions, overall thickness is controlled to 12.41 millimeters, about 0.49 inch. The rectangular case measures 51.1 by 31 millimeters, about 2.01 by 1.22 inches, and the watch comes on a deep blue alligator strap for a slender wrist profile.
The piece also introduces a newly designed folding clasp made from 46 components and supporting 0.5 millimeter micro adjustment, Jaeger LeCoultre said.
Craft, complexity and the Reverso legacy
As one of the high complication versions of the Reverso, the Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179 Pegasus brings engraving, lacquer work, skeletonization and tourbillon craft into a single watch. Jaeger LeCoultre said works like this serve as key demonstrations of the manufacture’s grand atelier capabilities.
The model will be produced in a global edition of five pieces. Interested collectors should contact Jaeger LeCoultre boutiques or authorized dealers for availability and pricing details, the brand said.
