Piaget Polo 79 shifts from the original 1979 gold tone to a deep-blue sodalite dial in a white gold case, the brand said after unveiling the model at Watches & Wonders 2026. The watch keeps a 38 mm diameter and a slim profile, preserving the Polo line’s recognizable silhouette while changing its visual tone.
The design remains centered on the Polo 79’s integrated-case concept. The case and bracelet join seamlessly, with horizontal curved ridges flowing from the bracelet through the case and across the dial, creating a continuous visual line that helps distribute the watch’s weight on the wrist.

Piaget Polo 79 retains the original proportions, with a 38 mm diameter and 7.45 mm thickness, measurements the brand said echo the classic model while fitting modern tastes. The dimensions convert to about 1.5 inches across and 0.29 inches thick, maintaining a restrained, refined presence on the wrist.
Material shift: white gold and sodalite dial
Piaget said the key change for this release is the switch to a white gold case and bracelet paired with a sodalite dial made from five joined natural stone panels. Each stone section carries unique white veining against the deep-blue ground, so every Piaget Polo 79 will show its own pattern.
Sodalite is uncommon in watch dials, and its deep-blue hue with delicate white streaks adds layered texture. The brand noted that cutting sodalite into thin, stable slices for a dial requires tight thickness control to keep structural integrity and surface luster.
Movement and everyday wear
The Polo 79 houses Piaget’s in-house 1200P1 ultra-thin automatic movement, which the company said measures 2.35 mm thick and 29.9 mm in diameter. The movement’s micro-rotor layout keeps the winding mass on the same plane as the movement, helping preserve a low overall case height.
Piaget lists the movement at 21,600 vibrations per hour, with about 44 hours of power reserve. The brand said the finished surfaces present a soft sheen that complements the white gold case, creating a unified visual effect between dial and metal.
Compared with earlier quartz iterations, Piaget said the new Polo 79 shows a clear increase in structural heft, with a total metal weight around 200 grams, or roughly 7.1 ounces. The bracelet design spreads that weight evenly across the wrist, which the brand said preserves comfort while conveying a sense of substance.
Details remain restrained: white gold feuille hands, a sapphire crystal front and back, and a 50-meter water resistance rating, which is about 164 feet, the company confirmed. There are no added complications, Piaget said, as the model focuses on material choice and visual proportion rather than additional functions.
From the original gold finishes to this white gold and natural stone combination, the Piaget Polo 79 offers a different rhythm and texture while preserving the familiar Polo silhouette. Piaget said the sodalite edition adds a new sensory layer to a well-known form, letting collectors experience the line in a cooler, more composed palette.
